The course template was originally created as a mechanism to assist faculty in redesigning their courses for Quality Matters certification. Eventually, it became the default starting point for all faculty when building an online course. By using the template, the institution has uniformity in course design across the curriculum and both the instructor and student are promised organization and consistency in format throughout the course.
